Living the American Dream…

A google search of this word ‘dream’ will give you about 503,000,000 hits in about 0.08 seconds. Most of the pages revolve around interpretation of dreams or dream quotes or bookish definitions. But what is a dream?

A dream is something that has no reality or even a chance of coming true. Still people have dreams which they go for even after knowing deep in their hearts that it is a dream……it has no substance. It may be called as a motivation force that keeps everyone going. The American dream is defined as the faith that through hard work, courage, and determination one can achieve a better life for oneself, usually through financial prosperity.

This phrase ‘Living the American Dream’ is commonly used for the immigrants rather than Native Americans. People from all over the world come to US to fulfill their dreams. It is still a dream and not a reality; it is an imaginary target that people have decided to accomplish without visualizing the installments one has to pay to reach there. These goals are very much attainable if one decides to go for them, but then at what cost???

We all come here to achieve this dream leaving our families, loved ones behind to pursue our dreams. Dreams are our targets and there are not many people who hit the bull’s eye. Those who have hit the bull’s eye can boast about it, but those who haven’t been so lucky!!!! Those who actually struggle all their lives in making the ends meet. Is the cost they paid, worth it? As one grows up/old the priorities of a person change so do the dreams and goals. The target you have today may not be or rather should not be your target in a couple of years from now. So it is mandatory to continuously change our goals and take steps towards reaching for the same, then only we can say that we are living the American dream.

Its up to you to decide are you living one????
